In 2006, Ernest graduated from Macquarie University with a Bachelor of Media and Bachelor of Laws and went on to complete his Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice at the College of Law, where he achieved a Distinction in Criminal Practice. In 2007, Ernest was admitted as a lawyer to the Supreme Court of New South Wales.

Ernest spent over 10 years as a police prosecutor in the NSW Police Force where he appeared in hundreds of court cases at various courts. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant within the Senior Advocates Group, where he prosecuted complex, serious and media interest cases. He also prosecuted Drug Supply and Break and Enter cases as a senior prosecutor within the Serious Drug and Property Offences Team. Ernest has completed the Advanced Advocacy Course, Specialist Domestic Violence Prosecutor Course and achieved qualification as a Senior Police Prosecutor. He was awarded the NSW Police Medal for 10 years of diligent and ethical service as well as the Commissioner of Police Emergency Commendation. 

Ernest’s prosecutorial experience is invaluable to your case. He has knowledge of police procedures and can identify the weaknesses in the prosecution’s case, negotiate with the police and tactically approach your matter to achieve the best result for you. 

Before starting Garrison Defence Lawyers, Ernest was a Senior Associate in one of Sydney’s top criminal defence law firms. As a defence lawyer, he achieved outstanding results for his clients in various cases such as domestic violence offences, assaults, drink driving offences, drug offences, fraud, larceny (stealing), AVOs and traffic offences. In addition to running defended hearings, Ernest is experienced in appeals, bail applications, sentencing, mental health applications and annulment applications.
